Debbie LaChusa
Debbie began sewing when she was thirteen years old, making doll clothes for her grandmother’s vintage doll business. She sewed her own clothes in junior high and high school and even made her own wedding dress. After she got married, sewing took a backseat to her career and raising two children.
Eager to find a hobby after she retired and moved to Hendersonville, North Carolina, Debbie enrolled in quilting and fabric arts classes. She began experimenting with her new skills and the result was AppliQuilt Art: original wall hangings created using a mix of applique, quilting, and embellishments.
Debbie’s original designs are inspired by wildlife and the natural beauty of Western North Carolina. Each one-of-a-kind piece is hand-crafted in vibrant batik fabric and adorned with colorful metallic ribbon, beads, and sequins.
